A few pictures from our lovely visit to the Ejipura slum settlement where we shared Whole-wheat Chocolate Muffins, Wholewheat Chocolate Chip Cookies and homemade chocolates as a small way to spread some warmth and love this Diwali, to 150 children and some adults. This was with the help of Swabhiman the NGO that works there and 7 OMBC bakers – Anwesha, Jabeera, Krithi, Renuka, Vidya, Shilpa, me.

The best part as always is the children sharing the goodies with other children. I think the vibe that children share with each other is simply something else.

Happy Diwali to all of you once again!

Sharing a Diwali special savoury Recipe – Wholewheat Red Rice Coriander Sesame Crackers

1 cup Wholewheat flour
1/2 cup Red Rice flour
1/4 cup flavourless cold-pressed oil
Chopped coriander leaves
1 tbsp white sesame seeds
Salt and paprika or red chilly powder as per your taste
1 tsp homemade garam masala
Warm Water to bring the dough together
Method – Sift the flours together. Add the paprika, salt, garam masala, sesame seeds and mix well. Add the chopped coriander leaves and mix through. Add the oil and rub it into this dry mix. Once it is absorbed into it, add the warm water one tbsp at a time only enough to bring it together as rollable dough.
It should not be too soft or too hard. Roll it into a sheet, cut into shapes. Bake in the pre-heated oven at 170 degrees C, for 12-14 minutes. Allow them to cool off on a wire rack and then store in air tight container.
